If you hear about the European Voluntary Service the first thing that comes to your mind is related to the future host organisation. Where are you going to be working? What exactly will you be doing? Will you like what you are doing? Which is your sending organisation? How many hours you have to work per week? … and a lot of other questions.

But another huge point is that you are out of school, university or work. So you have a lot of time to figure out what kind of person you are, what interests you are and maybe what you have to change in the future.

During the European Voluntary Service you have a lot of time to focus on you as a person. I did the same during this year.

By reading articles, watching youtube videos or asking other people about it, I found a new hobby, photography. I spent all my free time to read reports, reviews, and general dates about camera, lenses and tripods. I had the impression that I was addicted to everything about photography.
At the same time one of my best friends started to take pictures and bought a good camera. I could really feel that this would be also a very nice hobby for me. So just some time passed and I bought a camera as well. I spent a lot of time outside especially at night. I love to take pictures of the stars or to take a picture of the skyline. After a time I wanted to try something new, so I started to record my first time-lapse. For sure the first trials were not really good, but after a point I managed to find the right settings. So I took time-lapse of the skyline, streets and the movement of the stars. All in all I am really happy that I found such a nice hobby and I would like to recommend to future volunteers to use the time you have wisely and invest in yourself during the volunteering program.
