Big city life in Limassol and Nicosia and also slow village life in the countryside; traditional values and cosmopolitan lifestyle;  amazing beaches and snowy mountains: Cyprus is a land of contrasts. It is a small country, but the third largest island in the Mediterranean, situated in the north eastern corner of the Mediterranean, somewhere between Europe and Africa.

Most of the expats living in Cyprus are thinking is this country actually Europe or maybe Asia?

The mentality of the people, architecture and driving habits seem to be more Middle Eastern, on the other hand side, you find here the euro currency, driving on the left side and uk power sockets.

The people of Cyprus are descended from two major civilisations. The Greek Cypriots trace their roots to the Mycenaean Greeks while the Turkish Cypriots are descended from Ottoman settlers. Cyprus has a total population of almost one million, with 803,200 people in the Republic of Cyprus. The majority of the island’s population, 78%, is of Greek Cypriot ethnicity while 18% is Turkish Cypriot.
